Subject:Newbie with questions

Hello to everyone! My first question- is it smart to use rubber gloves( healthcare gloves) to avoid staining the clay? Im having a hard time figuring out how to handle my projects, if i put them down it makes marks and "flatten" out the head or arm or whatever touches the table, how do you do that? I have only used cernit and find it very hard and impossible to smooth out, i have now ordered prosculpt and really hope this is easier to work with. Does this clay attract dust and hair as easy as cernit? Ive use styrofoam inside the head and some aluminum in body work so far, since im a newbie im trying to use what i got before i buy pro equipment, since i have to order it from Usa. Iam from Norway and im just sculpting for fun, and so far I love it. The only problem i had on the webshop is the scales, since we in europe use cm and meter to measure everything. Thank you very much for this forum, and for any answeres, I hope my spelling dont freak you out :-)Lina

Hi Lina, the Prosculpt clay is very much easier to work with than Cernit. Cernit has a nice finish, but is too soft for me. Prosculpt has a nice finish also , but is just the right consistancy and does not need much kneading at all. All of the clays pick up dust and dirt, I guess some more than others. I dont use gloves, but many people do so ,that is just a personal choice. Be sure and wear light colored clothing when you sculpt because the fibers in the darker colors can get on your clay(I learned this the hard way). As far as the scales goes, you can just type into a search engine what you are wanting to convert like cm to inches and the search engine(google, yahoo, bing) will give you some websites that have a table for converting the measurements. We are glad to have you on the forum and good luck with your sculpting! sincerely, chris /www.chrisjonesoriginaldolls.com

Thanks for your letter. You will not need to use rubber gloves while sculpting with ProSculpt. I think you will find is easy to use, and beautiful after it is cured. To keep it from loosing it's shape, just make a simple wooden dowel coming out of a piece of wood. you may put the head on top of the dowel. If you wish, you may order my book or DVDS to show you how to do everything we do. Let me know if I may help you in any way. Thanks, Jack
