Subject:Neck and limb grooves for attaching to body?
Hello,
This forum has been very helpful, thank you all. I have two questions: Can anyone advise on how to best cut the grooves on the neck/limbs to attach to the soft body on a life scale polymer baby doll? I am having some trouble getting the size and shape correct and had some breakage on my last baby.( I used Super Sculpy that time) Also, I am using acrylic paint for skin tones and when I sealed it with a matte sealer it became shiny. Does anyone know how best to protect the paint without getting the shiny appearance that I think ruins the look of the skintone?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I recommend you put the stitch button grooves in the clay while it is still soft. Just press them in with your sculpting tool. I use the round shaft of the ear tool to make the grooves. I do not use anything to seal the paint. My sculptures are made to stand in glass cases, so I don't need to protect the paint. If you really want to put a sealer over the paint you may use matte fixative. Just make sure your spray bottle is at least 15 inches from the surface when you spray. If you get too close it will turn shinny. Good luck, Jack

Did you try the Genesis matte sealer? Maybe try an air dry matte varnish. But remember these both tend to change the "feel" of the doll. Many artists don't even use a sealer. Genesis paints are cured so they should be fine.
