Subject:New and a question

Hello! I'm new to dollmaking, but have fallen in love with sculpting. I like the option of making a sculpted head and breastplate, but I'm finding so little information in the books I have on how to do the breastplate. I did see some references to a book by Bob McKinley, but it is out of print and far out of my current price range. I have every book written by Susanna Oroyan and several on sculpting. Do you create the armature first and then sculpt the breastplate over the top? Can the armature be put in the oven with the sculpted head and breast attached? Thank you!

Two of my books will help you in sculpting a doll and making a full body with a breast. The best books to help you would be Artdolls and Human Figures in Clay. We wrote and published both of these books, so I can highly recommend them. You may see them and order them at www.artdolls.com in the Catalog section and then click on books. Once you've studied the books making a breast plate will be much clearer for you. I will also be happy to give you free technical assistance. Just call me toll free at 800-290-9998. Thanks, Jack
